Maintaining a healthy, attractive complexion can be challenging in South Florida’s climate, where sun damage can cause age spots, wrinkles, and uneven texture. Laser skin resurfacing treatments at our Boynton Beach, FL, practice can diminish signs of aging without the downtime associated with cosmetic surgery.
What Is Laser Skin Resurfacing?
A laser skin resurfacing treatment exfoliates damaged skin using rapid, pinpoint pulses of light beams that create controlled wounds to the tissue. The natural healing response stimulates the production of collagen and elastin to gradually reveal smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
Laser Skin Resurfacing Options
Depending on the condition being treated and your cosmetic goals, we’ll use either a CO2 ablative laser or a non-ablative laser that is less aggressive but may require more treatments.
We use the Tetra CO2 laser, which produces skin resurfacing results similar to Fraxel® lasers but with significantly reduced downtime. During a CO2 fractional ablative laser treatment, the laser delivers light beams that create microscopic channels in the skin’s surface and heat the skin’s deeper layers. The skin surrounding these treatment zones remains undamaged. This fractional approach is less aggressive than older, fully ablative lasers that remove the entire surface layer of skin.
What makes the Tetra laser unique is its versatility. We can customize the treatment’s intensity to suit your specific needs using a gentler setting if you prefer to schedule multiple treatments without downtime. Other patients prefer getting their desired results in a single laser skin resurfacing session, followed by a relatively brief recovery process.

Pamper yourself and save money—what could be better?
People get laser skin resurfacing treatments for a wide range of concerns about their skin’s appearance. Laser skin resurfacing can:
Minimize wrinkles
Smooth rough texture
Erase age spots
Reduce sun damage
Diminish the appearance of acne scars
You’ll see results within a few days of your laser skin resurfacing treatment. Because the procedure stimulates new collagen production, your skin’s appearance will continue gradually improving for weeks and months after your treatment. Scheduling periodic laser skin resurfacing treatments can maintain the results and minimize the effects of aging.
If you’re concerned about loose skin, a laser skin tightening treatment is also an option.
How Much Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost?
The cost of laser skin resurfacing varies, depending on your unique needs and treatment goals, which are discussed during your consultation. We develop personalized treatment plans designed to optimize your results and treatment experience and provide you with a clear breakdown of the estimated costs associated with your laser skin resurfacing treatment. For your convenience, we accept cash, checks, credit cards, and financing for qualified patients with companies that specialize in payment plans for healthcare costs.
Our Surgeon
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Rosenthal is known for his exceptional skill, experience, and expertise, as well as his down-to-earth demeanor and genuine desire to help you feel more confident. He specializes in facial rejuvenation, breast enhancement, and body contouring procedures for women and men of all ages. Dr. Rosenthal is president-elect of the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2024 and will serve as the society's president in 2025.
Before a laser skin resurfacing treatment, we will apply a topical anesthetic to the treatment area to minimize any discomfort that may occur during treatment. Then, we carefully deliver laser energy to the desired treatment area using the laser that best matches your skin type and treatment goals. A laser skin resurfacing treatment typically lasts about an hour, but the exact length will vary depending on the size of the areas being treated.
What Is Recovery Like After Laser Skin Resurfacing?
After laser skin resurfacing, you may experience mild redness, swelling, and sensitivity in the treatment area. These effects typically only last a few days, and Dr. Rosenthal will provide you with a topical solution to help soothe and heal the skin. Despite these effects, there is hardly any downtime after laser skin resurfacing with the Tetra laser. You are usually able to resume normal activities within a day of treatment. However, we encourage you to avoid exposure to sunlight while your skin recovers, as the treatment area will be especially sensitive to sunlight until it heals.
